Hello guys,
I recently gave in and bought a tm vsr 10 from redwolf airsoft.
Got it in the mail today and while it's a great gun that shoots very straight, one thing about it bothers me..
On the way back, the left side of the cocking handle seems to "scratch" onto the part that stops it at the first 90 degree pull.. ish?
Is this normal? Doesn't look as flawless as I imagined the vsr 10 to be.
I prefer to cock rifles at a 90 degree angle, am I supposed to keep it lower than that?

Here's a photo:

EDIT for any other forum members that might come here wondering the same: Redwolfairsoft actually sent me a video showing that this is indeed normal for the vsr10 and sniper rifles in general.

This is normal, at least all of my guns have done this. I took my gun apart and filed the left side where the bolt catches the receiver. If you file/sand the receiver just a little bit and make it a smooth edge it makes the bolt return much easier. I'm at work now but I'll try to remember to take a picture of my receiver when I get home so you can see what I'm talking about.

Great! Thanks for letting me know:) I was afraid I'd have to ship it back halfway around the world!
So anyway, you filed down the 2-3mm of steel that the bolt was scratching against? Would you recommend that, or shimming the inside of the cocking handle so that it doesn't reach the top?

I didn't think about shimming the bolt handle, but yes I took a few mm of material away from the receiver. But I filed it at an angle (slope) so that it would aid in smoothly retuning the bolt to its resting position. I'll post a picture alter so you can visually see what I meant

Alright.
I'm just relieved to see that my vsr isn't a slack production.
I will probably try to shim the handle. If it doesn't work I'll file down the reciever. Thanks again man:)
Feel free to post the picture

I tried to file the receiver on a curved slope. My thought being that if I do end up over rotating the bolt handle, when the handle hits the receiver, it will be channeled back to the proper position in a smooth motion. I also filed the sharp edge where the bolt goes back into its resting position.

Hope this helps, it made a world of difference with my bolt cycle.

Great! I just tried it with my new swiss arms 4x40 scope and I will probably not over rotate the bolt too often as my hand will stop by the scope. That being said the last "return scratching" seems to be the cylinder locking into place. But that is probably nothing. I will try to shim the handle and if that doesn't work I will file down the reciever:)
Cheers:)
