Hi everyone!:yup:

This is my first post here and my goal is to build medium budget rifle within the fps limit of 170m/s @0.2 ( 557FPS ) All the advice and comments are welcome as this is my first BASR project and i've previously only used c02 and aeg guns!

I've been reading all the vsr building guides i could find from this and other forums/reddit and and have now finally came up with my shopping list which is the following:

Rifle: JG BAR-10
Trigger set etc: Airsoftpro trigger set (M170)
Hop Chamber: Action Army
Bucking: Maple Leaf autobot 70/60 (or Monster Diamond 70/60) with Maple Leaf nub
Inner barrel: Action Army 6.03
Other: AA set of 2 barrel spacers

The ones i am troubled with:

- The rifle choise between G-spec or the longer pro sniper version and

- Lenght of the inner barrel

Note: Weight/lenght of the gun irrelevant as i got used to real steel guns in the army i just want best performance

I've read that 6.03mm bore @ 430mm is a solid choise
( "400mm optimal for cylinder/barrel ratio @0.45g bb's" -1tonne )

but what about 300mm? Wouldn't that increase the energy of the shots with heavy bb's for slightly increased range and accuracy while still keeping it within the field limit at 557Fps @.20 and also allow the use of even more heavy bb's and springs if i ever go to milsim events where the rules allow more power for basr's? Or have i misunderstood something?

So if i go with the 430 barrel it seems like the optimal gun is pro sniper, and if i get the shorter one it would fit well into g-spec without any modifications

So all kinds of feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Fun fact: At Finnish prices all of that will be 485 euros or 560 dollars :lame:
so if there is any european shop where i could get all that or some shop that ships to europe that kind of advice would be golden!

Note: ZCI barrels not sold in Finland :(

Airsoftpro springs shoot 20-30 m/s more than they should. An m170 shoots 200 m/s. An m150 shoots around 170 m/s. I also live in finland, and no sites chrono with .20g bbs. So go for the m140 instead if you want to be just under 3 joules

Get the G-Spec and then change the silencer to a 335mm x 40mm long one. This works a treat to make the rifle really quiet. The pro version becomes way too long once you put on a silencer.
You will lose energy if you keep the 300mm inner barrel but gain if you have a 400mm and use 0.45gm bb's

Yeah so i'll get the G-spec

I was considering the option of using 0.66 BB's for (effective)range increase, so wouldn't that lower the optimal barrel lenght to around 300ish mm?

And as a side note do you think the maple leaf hop will be able to lift 0.66?
I've read that R-hop works best with heavyest rounds and while it sounds very interesting i doubt i have the skills to make it work... one option would be to get some help from a more experienced tech in regards to R-hop..

From what i've understood the (max)range comes down to Hop up and Good quality (heavy) bb's as long as the rifle has enough power. I assume 550fps @0.20 will be more than enough to reaching the 100m mark as long as everything else is well set up. Accuracy on bigger ranges starts to get little complicated tho...

When it comes to the barrel, do you think AA or ZCI barrels would be good enough or should i invest in a more expensive inner barrel? The price is really not an issue is just want to get maximum performance

If you are going to use 0.66gm then yes, 300mm would be better. Also, the tighter the bore the better. Since the bb's are perfectly shaped you can go very tight bore.

You will most likely need R-Hop. There are ways to make the Maple Bucking work but you are better off with R-Hop. PS: Try doing the R-Hop yourself.

The AA barrel should be fine. Get the 6.01mm. Someone may suggest something else. You could get Edgi to make a barrel.

Where do you play? I play at linnasoft and we don't care about velocity with 0,20 but with the bb weight you use. So no joule creep is allowed unless it still shoots under 3 joules

Ask from Pekka Mäkikuutti about the lapped and ir hopped barrels he sells. They are stainless steel.

VSR Shopping lis

So if i were to run setup with 300ish barrel that would make it inefficient for bb's weighing around 0.40-50g, but could i use that to my advantage and use lighter bb's when the joule limit is 3J, and then switch to 0.66 when rules allow ~4 joule? I know that the sound of the rifle will increase, but would it hurt accuracy?
I think reliku talked about his JC rifle with 4:1 ratio or smthing like that, but could joule creep be used the other way around using physics to limit gun's power to match field limit without changing internals ...

300mm will work with any bb weight from 0.66gm downwards. The lighter bb's just will not have as much energy.
I am not sure on how much energy you will lose when switching from the 0.66gm to 0.45 (or there abouts) but at a guess you should be able to bring it down by about 1 joule. So it may work out for you.
