on airsoft mechanics i have seen everything from soapy water to rubbing alcohol mentioned, a good number of people seem to use silicon to clean also.
Washing an r-hop
I know that to wash a bucking you simply soak it on soapy water and use a q-tip or something similar to clean it and let it air dry, but what do you do for an r-hop? Or more specifically an ir-hop? I have been using the same procedure as with a bucking but it's so small it's hard to hold and clean at the same time. Does anyone have any specific method for this?

I would only ever put silicone on the bucking if it was to maintain it, which I haven't experimented doing yet. I use rubbing alcohol for the barrel and was using it with the bucking before switching to soapy water.
I wash it in .5M HCl, works pretty well.
The I-variant patches can handle 3.2M, so I use that.
Experiment yourself though, depending on the purity of your solution it can get really nasty really fast.

cheese what exactly is HCI? I tried searching for it but it is too short for the forums and I couldn't find anything useful on google. I am guessing it is some sort of acid by the way you say it can get nasty really fast. Also, when you say "wash" do you mean soaking and drying or rubbing with a q-tip or something else?

I mean soaking in it for about 10 sec. Then you have to soak it in NaOH (I use ~.5M again) for a little while, about 3 sec is good enough. Then, DO NOT USE CA on it for at least a few hours, CA reacts violently with the remnants of HCl on the patch (just a teeny bit keeps the bb crap off of it) and it will eat your patch.

So just soak it for 10 secs and take it out and dry it with cotton cloth or something? And where would I get HCL? I never have to use chemicals such as this but I do want to wash it effectively.

I will see what I can do about that. I do have two spare patches because I only used one for my bar10. Is there any other method besides this for the meantime until I get everything and research it more? And I don't use CA. I just keep it loose because I take it out a lot to clean the barrel.

Well, .5M is not too bad. Just don't use the 3M stuff, or anything over about .7M and you should be fine.

Just to clarify, that 32% stuff on amazon is 3.2M or .32M?

So where would I get the granules? I took a look at amazon (favorite place to buy random crap) and they didn't have it. Also where would I get the base to neutralize it?
Everything is on Sigma Aldritch, though I think you might have to be an institution to buy from them.
