Way to make new members make an intro

I recently joined the forum "airsoft nj" because, well, I live in NJ and wanted to find better fields. When I activated my new account and logged in for the first time, it showed only the intro category and the rules category (support/feedback here). It wouldn't let me see the other categories until I had made an intro post, or of course logged out. They are using a different forum provider (forget the name off hand) but since different forums often have the same features, I was wondering if this could be done here. We have had several people who keep posting without an intro post, and we shouldn't have to tell them to make one.

Actually we've discussed something like that, I don't know if VBulletin supports this feature.

Sounds like a really good idea

Zero
I really don't give a hoot about the intro post too much. It just lets everyone know a little something about themselves, and engage in the community a bit.
I agree, I don't see a need to make it mandatory. Some people may want to register but just to read posts and not make posts.
Or a way to keep people from starting new threads in the commerce section until they've been here for 3 months.
I didn't know there was anything on here restricted to only members besides posting.
Sounds cool, but I can only see the whole intro post thing being mandatory on a local forum because you'll actually be playing with the people and seeing them in person.
True. If you're going to add this feature, then why not add a feature that stops new users making ads? I believe in the rules you cannot post an ad for a certain time period but I can't remember the exact number of days, I'll have to read the rules again.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
