We are ALL doing something WRONG

In my quest/research to develop something new; this afternoon I decided to entertain the idea of blowguns, and I discovered something that will hopefully help everyone realize that there is something seriously wrong with the way that we do things in this sport.

This is a grouping from a .50 BLOWGUN at 20 yards... 60 ft.

Sure, there is drop blah blah blah. Justify it all you want. but if this isn't a wakeup call to us I don't know what is.

Blowguns (should be) < Airsoft, here is why:
No Hop up
Weak pressure
No spin
Firing position is more awkward/unstable than even off-hand shooting
Terrible site line
Heavier projectiles

And, just to prove I'm not shooping it, here is a link to the forum:

Bit of a rant and food for thought for those of you that may still think that things are 'fine' they way they are, or think that we can work with what already exists. THESE GUYS ARE BLOWING THROUGH A TUBE! I mean, seriously... ::)

Oh yeah we've been talking about this. We definitely need to make a more projectile shaped bb with a tail. Then we can talk about REAL groupings and range.

If you think about it, that is all an airsoft rifle is... I mean think about it. The early airsoft rifles didn't have a hop up to them. Just a barrel that guided the bb down it, and air to propell it. Same thing as with a blow gun ;)

Except blowgun's darts have stabilizing tails which keep the consistency. BB's don't. Except the blade bb's which were only in the prototype age because of the guns legal issues. (Asahi m40)
Yeah, and the whole mechanical aspect of it v. lung power... point being, we have a lot of improvement to do :)
Also bear in mind, a healthy human lung, though with lower pressure, does have far more air volume to work with, meaning it can relatively effectively propel a heavier projectile like the dart. That and the stabilizing tails to keep them shooting straight.

Keep in mind that this is at 60ft. You won't be getting those darts to hit a target 250ft away with safe power levels, as we can using bbs and hop-up. And those groupings can easily be batched by an airsoft gun at that range.

On a side note, that grouping looks pretty impressive for a blowgun.
I would like to point something out. I realize a little late, but still. Many pre classic guns used longer projectiles that were pellet, or cylinder shaped, so maybe we are doing something wrong...
