I know this has been asked and answered before, but with the lack of being able to use the word "vsr" in the search, I must ask it once again. Does anyone know what the vsr rifle was modeled after? I heard somewhere it is a remington something or other, but I forget what. The reason I ask is I might (might) buy a real wood stock and modify it to fit my bar10.

There's a lot of 700 models. Does anyone know what the right one would be if I want to get a real steel stock and mod it to fit my bar10?

Nope, but I do know that for all of them you will have to cut a new hole for the mag and do some pretty heavy modding.

I would take an educated guess at a Remington 700 .308 short action with a varmint or heavy contour barrel and non-removable magazine. Now this is a guess based on what is currently used by military/police/civilian marksmen, but nevertheless, it's still a guess, so I may be wrong on some details.
