Pretty simple question, complicated to answer. What's the perfect VSR stock? Does one even exist? I'm curious as to everyone's opinion on stocks as I'm not sure there's a "perfect" stock for the VSR. What's y'alls favorite out of the all the mass-produced and custom ones out there?

And now for the hard part: if you had to list out the features of YOUR perfect VSR stock, what would that include?

Whilst can't help with current vsr stocks as only tried a standard r700 style (which is a bit meh) on a vsr.

I do like a l96 or m40 style where your shooting hand grips the rifle in a more vertical style, makes it a lot more comfortable to use overall I find.

Pistol grips can work nicely as well but depending on stock design can sometimes look a bit ugly if not matched well.

This is a very subjective question. Many people have a different idea of a perfect stock, some like it very light, some like it very sturdy, some like it very tacticool.

From personal experience, I really like the M24 stock, mainly being able to adjust the length of the back plate, since I have quite long arms.

I want someone to make a gosh darn, small, lightweight Vsr body with BUFFER TUBE THREADS. Mainly because I want to attach my UGS stock to it without tons of modifications. But everyone keeps coming out with garbage folding stocks and the interface is a bitch when it comes to mounting a cgs/ugs. It’s because of the line routing. So I’m going to use an MDT LSS gen 2 chassis. Similar to what @Masinmees did. I think it was him.

simple answer without rant:
Cnc vsr body
Short as possible (ends after magwell)
Milspec buffer threads
Mlok on sides and bottom
Takes any AR grip

Clearly I’m working on a stock. Just trying to see if I’m on the right path. So far so good it seems. Blind I have a feeling you’ll like what I’m doing.

Whats everyone’s thoughts on mags? Seems like everyone has dummy magazines at this point, but I normally don’t like “dummy” parts. Ideally, should we even use VSR mags? What if we could use some other standard box mag instead?

If you are going to have a dummy mag, I feel like the maple leaf style i.e. one that holds another VSR magazine for a reload is probably the way to go.

So currently my list of key features is (and what I'm working on so far):

-Full air stock compatibility with designs that use standard AR buffer tube threads (with zero flexible air lines used internally)
-Detachable box magazine with correct placement (zero compatibility with standard VSR mags though)
-Free floated barrel (also means that it currently should only be used with rigid receivers and barrels)
-AR pistol grips
-One piece design

Admittedly I've got a decent way to go with the design, but the basics are there. Kinda why I'm asking what features everyone wants since I can try to add things.

At this point, you should just make your own rifle..
I mean I'm getting pretty close lol. There's not much left in this thing that isn't custom. It's nice keeping to the VSR base part compatibility though because it opens the door for plenty of configs and options if desired.

AR pistol grip
No pic rails anywhere (that's you ML)
Rigid plastic with metal inserts, maybe Delrin or glass fiber Nylon (one of the better PA series)
Real steel buffer tube threading, with a skelly stock option available
C bands with screws to lock down your outer barrel
Super slim
Either takes M4 or AR-308 mags
Realistic mag placement
M-LOK everywhere
Super light
AR-15 compatible trigger guard
Built in mag block

That's about it, but at that point like somebody said, you may as well slide the action way back to make it a semi bullpup, make a fatter and shorter cylinder, make a more compact and less shitty trigger system.
If you're going that far, I'd make an outer barrel that isn't 30 mil OD as pretty much all sniper barrels look dumb. I'd do a more hunting rifle style profile, maybe with fluting, but I think a taper would be hard, heavy, expensive, and mostly pointless.
Could make both that and a VSR stock though.

Also, buffer tubes look stupid as hell on a gun that doesn't have a buffer system, so I'd definitely look at the afore . mentioned skelly stock if one isn't using a UGS setup.

If price point matches an MDT you have me sold on the chassis 👌🏻
No promises lol. Currently just trying to make something that doesn't do the same thing every other VSR stock does.

The barrel is going to be completely free-floated in this one. I'm not a fan of all the airsoft rifles screwing their outer barrels to the stocks, potentially bending them and affecting accuracy. This will be done how real rifles are with mounting holes only for the receiver and extremely sturdy supports for those areas. The stiffness of the outer barrel will totally depend on the receiver design used by the user.

Otherwise, pretty much already doing your entire list lol.

I think it's genius to build a mag feed into the stock (tm m40 / silverback style) so you can use proper mags and location.

Suppose the decision is do you do a speedy boi just attach an M4 mag for convenience or do you design it to take mags for bigger round irl (eg M14 or anything bigger than 5.56 really)
