So I was wondering, why did most airsoft snipers on this lil forum choose to snipe?
It could be a video you watched on youtube, it could be video games (usually a foolish mistake), or you just had good aim! So, how'd you get into it?

The ARES MSR 338, I always buy the guns I like (generally CoD related) and build them out to perform.

MSR is my first bolt action (technically second if you count the gold M200 I bought to not really use seriously) and it’s make me love sniping once I got it dialed in. Moved from ARs to DMRs before that..

Made some nasty shots with it after only 2 game days including a 200’ first-try “might hit, let’s try” shot through a small triangular window at a hat and a moving target quickscope shot.

addicted now.

Medium age Nov videos, when he used a VSR.

I didn't do much until I saw his full auto bottlegun, and after that I promptly found my way to an HPA tank, regulator, homemade line, and fire extinguisher for the actual gun. After not very much time, I got a number of guns, including a VSR clone that I built an HPA engine for.

This is one of my favorite sniping vids of his, but Frozen77 uploaded much more stuff like this but with clearer footage if somebody want's to check his channel out.

I'd been just your standard M4 user up until a serious head injury during a game, and the concussion was the least of my problems - "take it easy for the next few months" is more or less what the doctors told me. I figured I'd get into sniping, less moving, less run-and-gun, and knew a guy that was selling a fully upgraded VFC M40A3 for super cheap - one of my dream rifles. This was also when sniper gameplay was on the rise, late 2015 - when Novritsch had a whopping 40 videos on his page, 200k subscribers, was still using an entire digital camcorder on top of his scope, Bodgeups was still active... Good times. I'd wanted to start recording gameplay, and figured the best route was going to be with the sniper.

7 years later, and I just can't really get back into standard infantry. Maybe it's because I've kinda let myself go over the past few years, but there's just something always more appealing to me about really thinking about the shot you're about to send downrange, waiting for the right moment, adjusting for wind and distance, and watching that single little bugger fly - it's a bit more appealing than your typical spray-and-pray.

I just happens to sold my AEG and my friend sells his sniper and I took it.

Can't say I'm disappointed, I learned a lot and faster than all the time I have AEG. Though I like playing both.

Good idea for a topic!

It was 2007 and I was in high school. Always liked the sniping playstyle in games and the idea of real-world sniping...pair that with the fact nobody else had a sniper rifle, and it was kind of a no-brainer. Never bothered to change or even try a different playstyle until I got my first fully-automatic weapon a year ago (SSP18), and even then I miss my sniper rifle anytime I don't have it.

Thanks! searched it up, and was shocked to see there was nowhere for people to share their stories, so I created this thread hoping for it to be the origin story hotspot, although I feel mine is kinda just dumb.

So I could dress like a Wookie and sleep under bushes.

Or, more accurately, some friends started playing and I always fancied the longer rifles. Started off with a G3SG1 which should have been upgraded moderately to 1j or so with a few extra parts and came back doing 400+ fps. Got my money back on that and the Maruzen APS96 had just arrived, so obviously went straight ahead and bought one, with a Desert Eagle for backup :ROFLMAO: I had a history of shooting (I learned to shoot in the Army Cadets on a Lee-Enfield, had an air rifle for my 10th birthday) and fieldcraft so I just gravitated towards that style of play. Initially (this is pre-VCR bill) we were limited to 400fps with bolt-actions but that APS96 was not only a laser, it was amazingly quiet at that sort of power. For the longest time I ran an OK Projects inner barrel with stock hop chamber, rubber and nub, with a few upgrades in the cylinder........and a Hawke Scope of a model I can't remember.

After that came the VSR, various DMRs, and a few random other backups until I had a break from playing and sold all my gear. The first rifle I picked up on returning was the eternal VSR, and a TM Mk23 for backup.......so some things never change!

I started playing with a krytac vector and found that while it was tons of fun, I would rather be able to hit enemies farther then 200ft. Over the next few months I got a modify mod24 bolty and tokyo marui mk23 and ended up really liking the sniper style games. Then I moved to a kmcs ghillie suit and silverback srs and loved the more sneaky gameplay and ended up becoming a full time bushwookie spending way way too much time working on my suit and guns. Now i'm using my kjw kc-02 gbbr heavily modded and converted into a levergun and almost exclusively use that and the good old reliable mk23.

I have always been interested in Sniper rifles.

I guess I got my start into Airsoft Snipers as it was the first gun I owned, (UFC SUPER9) complete junk but so much fun to use. Followed by a JG VSR-10 which was a lot better. I find my enjoyment comes from being support more than being front line, running an LMG or a bolt gun is more fun for me I guess.

My first actual airsoft game I played I found that I had the most fun using 'sniper' like guns for the first game I used a CYMA M14 scout which was a blast, from then on sniper rifles were my go too platforms. I used an ARES AW338 for a long time, I really like the challenge of having one shot vs the enemies full auto and coming out on top. And topping it off with using a full ghillie only adds to the fun when someone walks right by you when you're all cammed up is a thrill.

I'd say probably like most the COD4 mission really sparked my itch for sure.
