Either the trigger sears or piston... maybe even both

Yes, check and see if your trigger box is still intact. The cause of the problem can range from as simple as a slipped angular spring, all the way to something catastrophic like a cracked bushing or sear.

If the shell or a bushing is cracked, sears won't help you. The cheapest option for you is a UTG Metal Trigger, which is $30. The trigger box is stronger than the already decently strong stock box, so you should be set after that.
