I think tactics are way more important. My DMR went down one game so all i had was my pistol, my radio, and my scope. Never fired a shot, just sneaked around and called out enemy positions to my team. We won

Snipers gospel, this is so true its scary. And ironically this is how I learned what stealth was. I used a crappy 80 dollar gun for about 3 months with only teflon tape, and a shimmed hop. The maximum effective range was about 115 ft. And I was brutally gunned down until I learned what stealth was. As fuzzy stated tactic is king(under me of course) but an upgraded rifle is an asset, not the enemy. You say you pown with your stock rifle(op)? Can you imagine if you had another 100 ft of pin point precision to play with?As for me, I ran a stock UTG l96 for my first solid year of airsoft sniping. Loved the rifle, didn't do a thing to it, and was pin point up to around 125-150 feet. I wasn't picking people off with the long shot, and more than anything, taught me to get close enough to target without being seen, otherwise sheer firepower would over run me.

exactly!! Stealth is the single most important part, then a good rifle comes next.Snipers gospel, this is so true its scary. And ironically this is how I learned what stealth was. I have seen a lot of that apart from their actually like 12 years old but I know what you mean .hundreds of 8 year olds running around like an storm trooper calling themselves a sniper.
Very true.A CO would much rather have a well trained sniper with a stock rifle to take long shots and provide recon than a poorly trained sniper with a super upgraded rifle.
Nicely put! I totally agree! I think I could run with a rubber knife and still get a good amount of kills, but take a guy who has never held a rifle and hand him something shooting 650fps with 500ft range and 100% accuracy and he may not get even one kill. Its not the weapon that wins the battle, its the soldier!Tactics. An upgraded rifle just makes my job easier.

Oh don't get me started on the rambo wannabees.hundreds of 8 year olds running around like an storm trooper calling themselves a sniper
Ghillie with knife combo... That sounds sweet, I think I might try it outI went to a game recently and there was this guy who forgot to bring his primary weapon, some L96 clone. He normally plays the role of sniper but recently he has been playing DMR because he runs it at 350fps. Back to forgetting his primary, he never uses a secondary, only a knife. I thought he was the biggest idiot in the workd and he ended up getting about half as many kills with that knife as I did with my bar10. For a ghillie with a knife, that is superbly good, I would never have been able to do that. I don't have any numbers for you, but it was a death match with around 50 or 60 people.
Exactly! I rock lower priced rifles as well. My Bar10's go about 150ft and thats not really considered far but I dont seem to have issues getting kills,lol.. I pick my shots, get my shots and get some more.. One of these days when I get around to installing my R hops I guess we'll see how much better things are. But I'm not in any big hurry to be honest. My M28 is actually by far the longest shooting rifle I have but I'm waiting on my piston. That sucker shot an EASY 225ft accurately and got some shots going out 250ft +!! Of course out that far was a 50-50 chance on getting the kill but with a bolt rifle, its harder to trace the shot back to me,lol.. and the 2nd shot was more likely to land where I want. The other day we did a small scrimmage. Me and my bud were out numbered but knowing the lay of the land and being sneaky we ambushed the enemy team and won. I can say that my rifle isn't completely upgraded and doesn't have 300 ft range but it gets the job done. I can care less when someone insults me about not having a 1000 dollar gun either, because I am the one getting the kills right?
