Heres the deal, I'm in need of some new specs because the new field I'm going to requires full eye protection (aka no shooting glasses). Anyways I'm not sure exactly what to look for to optimize my shootin' abilities, or at least not hurt them.

-What kind of tint is best for goggles, if any kind of tint at all?

I run no tint most of the time but bright days in winter I run regular dark tint since the reflection on the snow kills my eyes otherwise. But normally no tint.

Take care

In sunny circumstances I run a shaded tint, indoors or when it's not sunny I use clear. I generally carry a pair of shooting glasses, one shaded and one clear.

I've also got full-seal goggles with both shaded and clear lenses, but I never use that anymore. But if I were to use it, same idea. Sun -> shaded, no sun or indoors -> clear :hehe:

No Idea About What Kind Of Tint Is Best For Goggles But I Like The Blue Because They Help To Maximize Visual Clarity...

I have been running my ess profile nvg goggles for a while with the hi-def bronze lens and I love them.
Me too and I just ordered another for my ESS Crossbows
The smokegray are a little too dark for me unless it is really bright
But I also like the clear
I have 2 ESS goggles , one clear and the other bronze and 2 Crossbows will be the same

Nothing keeps my goggles from fogging either. I use a Cyclone Mike fan modded to use AA instead of AAA batteries, and with a longer hose. I just got a 'fanz kit' which is two fans about 10-15 mm running off a 9V battery. Unfortunately the kit came broken and I fixed it rather than sending it back.

I use clear lenses unless it's really (painfully) bright; then I use mirrored lenses. Shooter glasses when I'm allowed to.

Going for a real brand like Pyramex or Uvex instead of paying triple for tacticool airsoft goggles seems like a good idea. Tinted lenses just make the world seem yellow.

I used to use my ESS Land Ops goggles with clear lenses. They were huge but allowed me to wear eyeglasses under them. But they both fogged heavily.

Now I switched to ESS Crossbow with prescription inserts. I'm loving the fact that I can see clearly without fogging now. And a plus, ESS lenses have UV protection, and I didn't have any problems with the sun last sunday (which surprised me, as I am very sensitive to the sun).

Yellow or amber tint is supposed to be good for hunting, something to do with the way the brain interprets shapes vis-à-vis the spectrum of light. Apparently yellow strips out extraneous input, making it much easier to see moving shapes in relation to each other. I used yellow exclusively in Japan and found the experience pretty good, didn't find it so good in the UK (different kind of ambient light I guess, if that makes any kind of sense).
