Wingun mosin nagant m44 carbine tapping

I have the WinGun Mosin Nagant M44 Carbine. I've heard about tapping it for Hpa and I am very interested in doing so because I would love to use it on my field, only issue is that it's too powerful for my field and I need to be able to control the power so HPA seems to be the best idea

Hey man!

From the looks of it, should be a pretty simple process. Just fitting some sort of connector at the magazine where the CO2 input valve / puncturing is, and going with a line.

In your place, I would try a minimalist setup and try to hide it somewhere inside the stock. So a small 12g CO2 adapter + regulator, such as Wolverine's Wraith standalone version + Wolverine's BOLT On Tank regulator High Pressure version.

With that sort of setup you can even go a step further and separate the output valve part of the magazine from the bb feeding mechanism, getting the valve part fixed to the gun and implementing some mag sticks kind of system for the feeding, which can easily be 3d-printed.

It's quite some work, but with the right tools and knowledge should be relatively simple to achieve.

Right now me and a buddy of mine wanted to try something the idea is "Take an old CO2 Cartridge empty it, drill holes in both sides of it and slide an HPA tube through it have the Mag apart and run the tube through the gasket (going to try and buy more gaskets to test) epoxy the line inside of the old cartridge so the line shouldn't blow back through drill a hole for the line to go through where the normal pusher for the Co2 cartridges is and connect an HPA connector to the end." now we're or not it's fesable I'm not sure but I'm willing to try. All I want to do is use the gun, I've had it for 2 years and all it's done is collect dust. I don't mind messing up a mag 30 to 50 buck for a new one but the gun I feel like I could ruin without professional help. I'm good with computers but not so much this. I'll talk to my buddy see what he thinks about it and maybe see how much someone who mods alot may charge me lol

Well I don't have one at hand to check it out properly, but I think tapping the HPA connector directly to the input will be easier and better than trying to tap an empty cartridge.

Other than that, I think you should seriously consider the 12g CO2 + regulator setup instead of external HPA. Shouldn't be hard to hide that inside the stock, or at least run it right beside the gun, so you'll still have the chance to get consistent and adjustable power without the awful and cumbersome tank and hose setup.

Hello, from the looks of it you might know more about this rifle. I just bought this rifle on evike, and it does not have a adjustable hopup, is there anyway out there I can either put in a adjustable hopup if not, is there anyway to switch it out since from long term use it's probably gonna ware and tear
The safest bet is simply using .40g bbs, they work quite well with the setup.

It's an airgun type design so fitting an adjustable hop up will be quite hard, as it's quite different to both AEGs as GBBs hop units. Maybe a small chamber such as WE Makarov's can work (and that would allow for Maple Leaf GBB barrel and bucking, which are great), but you'll surely have to trim the chamber feed ramp and fine tune that a lot.

Would I be able to run it as sniper? Or I have to run it normal.
For a sniper build I'd go all-in, use the built-in CO2 regulator idea (nowadays, I'd probably choose a Mancraft setup) and definitely try to adapt some sort of regulable hop chamber.

And for the co2 regulator build. What would be the average price and like you said. Hiding it in the stock. Would that mean to connect the line within the gun or I'll have to connect the line from outside?

Really the only thing I'm looking to modify immediately is the inner barrel. Since I heard the inner barrel is only 3 quarter of the gun and have possibility of hitting the top of the outer barrel
The inner barrel goes all the way to front handguard retainer, or to put it in other words, the only part of the outer barrel that's not filled with inner is the one that's visible beyond the handguards. There's no chance of hitting the outer barrel, not even if you used ridiculously lightweight bbs.

Anyway, Trench Airsoft makes a hop up + bucking + barrel retrofit for this system, and that one goes all the way to the front sight. I don't know if it's adjustable (although their premium, 70% real custom build uses this system and claims to have an adjustable hop up, maybe you can ask them)

About the regulated CO2 idea, I believe the most viable option would be Mancraft U-shaped CO2 adaptor with expansion chamber and regulator hidden inside the rear part of the stock. Fix the gas valve part of a magazine to the gun, and run a line between the valve and the regulator through the stock. Then make some magic for the bb feeding part, I'd go with some DIY stick type magazines or adapt some from other guns.

Keep in mind these are just ideas, what I would do if I ever get into the project of building a sniper Mosin-Nagant. I'm not even sure if the regulator does fit, or how to tap the valve for the line, or how to actually build the stick type mags. So proceed at your own risk.

here's a full disassembly video so you can check the dimensions

Thank you for your time that helped a lot. Especially the tech airsort link.
