Well.. here it is, the A&K M24. I purchased this sniper rifle since Ive been wanting an M24 style platform to snipe with and I gave up on rebuilding a boneyard E1 M28.
I must say for under $100 USD, this rifle is solid! Pretty much the only things I can see NEEDING an upgrade is the hop up and barrel. other then those, it is amazing stock. When I unboxed it and assembled the rifle i tightened all the fasteners on the rifle and gave it a shake. not a single rattle throughout the rifle and no wobble from the scope.
Out of the box, the bolt is hard to pull back to set the piston and load a BB but it shoots hard. After shooting about 30-40 rounds before using it at the field this weekend, I chronoed at 470-480 fps on the stock spring w/ .20 and around 445-455 on .25g BBs. so far, after about 10 hours of game time between last weekend and this previous weekend, it has performed great. Ive put about 170-180 shots through it and not a single jam or misfire.
Accuracy and range can definitely be improved through upgrading the hopup and barrel. I zeroed in at 100' since the field I play at it heavily wooded and the average clear sightline is about 75-100'. At 100' I was able to get a decent grouping hitting a man sized target center mass with about a 8-12" spread. Out of 10 shots, 8 hit the target. I did have a few BBs fly wide off target.
I have not completely disassembled the rifle yet so i cannot give a detailed look at the hopup unit at the moment. The bolt, spring guide, cylinder and cylinder head are all metal construction and extremely sturdy. the trigger box is also all metal with metal steel sears which have no signs of wear after almost 200 shots. then again, i dont expect to see much after that many shots. honestly in my opinion, unless you encounter a slam fire issue or upgrade to a significately higher power spring, you do not need to upgrade these parts.
One issue I did have right off the bat was the safety. with the safety on, i was able to pull the trigger and shoot the rifle with not a whole lot of addition pressure. Upon inspection, the safety lever, when engaged, was barely contacting the trigger. which when the trigger pressure is enough, the safety lever gets pushed out toward the side of the body away from the trigger box. To me, this isnt a big deal if you have proper trigger discipline.
all in all, this rifle in its bone stock, out of the box form gets an 8/10 from me. Also, i forgot to mention, from looking at the internals it is all APS2 compatible. Ill have pictures added tonight of the internals so the experts on this forum can take a look and confirm this.
If anyone else has had experience with this rifle, please post it below!
