Thanks for posting your reviews on the rifle. Ive been MIA since before christmas due to emergencies. one thing after another lol

I really appreciate the collaborated info from everyone.

Got mine yesterday.

Initial impressions:
Coming from a VSR platform this thing is both long and heavy. Honestly not sure how I feel about that. If I can find a way to remove the adjustable butt plate I will.
The spring feels pretty stiff but despite having no nylon bushings in the receiver it's very smooth. Lubrication will be required.

Cylinder compression is 100%, hop-up is near 0% and teflon doesn't seem to be doing anything to help which makes me think it's a question of nozzle to bucking having a poor seal. The barrel has an AEG window but I intend on cutting that to VSR for use with a Maple Leaf bucking I want to try.

The cylinder is REALLY stuck together. I'm going to try a little heat later to see if it will budge. Many of the fasteners seem to have something like loc-tite on them.
Just looking into the nozzle it looks like the piston has no airbreak. The gun is quite loud so I will likely put the piston on the lathe and modify it for an airbreak since I'm a fan of them.

The trigger group isn't adjustable and the pull is a little stiff with lots of overtravel. But this is an airsoft gun so what matters is that it won't break (seems VERY strong) and will reliably function (looks like it). The overtravel could be fixed but really doesn't bother me.

The only really crappy part is that the barrel doesn't thread into the receiver. It's just held in place with a set-screw top and bottom. That means you have to dismount the scope to remove it. it also has a fair amount of wiggle.

Regarding the barrel wiggle; it should be noted that a third screw (a sling mount stud) is used to mount the action into the stock. The sling mount stud screws through the stock directly into the outer barrel, and when tightened prevents the outer barrel from wiggling. The rifle becomes quite solid.

On another note; my rifle was returned to me by Airsoft GI, where it seems as though they have "glued" the seperation in my stock. I will be getting back to further evaluation of my own rifle this coming weekend.

I really am enjoying the three different views on the same rifle in this thread... Anyone reading this should be able to make a fair judgement as to whether or not the A&K M24 is right for them.

Yes it's extremely solid when secured in the stock properly. This is really noticeable if you do an airseal test in and then out of the stock. In the stock was near perfect, outside was almost nil. Wobble outside the stock was to blame.

Went through a pile of teflon tape before I figured that one out.

Rifle is now shooting a solid 480fps with almost 1" cut off the spring.

im still pretty new to upgrading airsoft rifle so forgive my stupid question lol but since the Hop unit is a smaller variation of the vsr-10 a vsr-10 barrel will fit properly, correct? I just ordered a vsr-10 inner and a bucking to try out

Well I answered my question lol the VSR-10 inner did not fit the stock hop up chamber due to the alignment grooves being off. the VSR-10 grooves are right near the edge of where the bucking ends where as on the A&K the grooves are about 1/4" up the barrel...

I ordered a PDI barrel from redwolf airsoft that was labeled A&K PDI inner. Raven (PDI) 01 Inner barrel for A&K M24 (520mm) - Buy airsoft Accessories online from RedWolf Airsoft

This barrel looks to have the grooves right where I need them. in the mean time I replaced the stock bucking with a firefly bucking and the Hop adjustment range increased and can now be zeroed in much easier. I am getting more consistant shots on target with a slightly tighter grouping as well.

It has been 10-months since I first received my rifle. I have not done much with it, as life pretty much gets in the way once Christmas has ended. I have spent this past weekend shooting the rifle, including doing another chronographing, and the rifle is accurate and strong as it was when I parked it. I still have not entered the bolt to clean out the Chinese grease, but until the bolt gives me any issue, I am going to leave well enough alone.

In ten months I am surprized there is not more info out there on this rifle... maybe I should not be surprized, but I am... Since there are the same old tired vidoes out there on this rifle, I figured that this fall and winter, I would make my ownb set of videos, to try and keep the product fresh. After-all, for $112 it is still a nice bang for the buck. Far better than the $175 asking price for the M28 from Echo1, and I was a staunch supporter of the M28 for many years.

Anyone else pick up one of these value rifles? How do you like it? Let us know...

Still digging mine for the most part. I removed the adjustable butt pad and I'm going to do some work to reduce the weight on the end of the barrel to make it balance a bit more like my VSR. Also going to do the TDC mod this weekend since the shop is back together. Likely with a 10-24 set-screw.

Bolt still has 100% compression. Hop-up remains a fairly leaky affair. I'm going to drop an arrow barrel into this since I have found that can generate a truly awe-inspiring airseal. I do wonder if the airseal issue might be related to the nozzle, it doesn't have a lot of resistance entering the bucking. Maybe I will cut it for an O-ring this weekend to see if that could make a difference.

Accuracy with the maple-leaf bucking is decent although I did have to totally reshape the nub on the hop-up arm, but what VSR based hop doesn't require that?

Just bought

I just bought this gun - and I'm surprised because I can't fire unless I hold the magazine "up" while pulling the bolt back - that's terrible for a brand new product. Otherwise it feels awesome and looks cool too.

I thought someone else might have this same issue, so that's disappointing it's not some obvious fix.

Reading your impressions though is helping me feel better about the purchase.

I'm new to all this, so there is a lot to learn.

In case anyone cares, I brought the rifle back and they gave me a new one and a worker said about 1/10 have the issue I mentioned. This time we tested in store extensively and it was still happening on the new gun until the sling screw down the stock was put in and tightened, then it never miss-fired.

I took it home and you can tell it won't be an issue since the magazine sits flat and doesn't have much give, which makes it harder to swap magazines, but who cares - I'd rather be able to shoot.

I also got a 3-12x42 lancer tactical scope and a bipod - after messing around I zero'd the scope and was shooting today hitting targets. I measured the distance and was hitting just under 1ftx1ft targets almost 100% of the time at 65 and 70ft. There was 1 or 2 strays but besides anomaly's I'm pretty satisfied - I think the accuracy would remain the same for another 10ft or so, and beyond that it's hard to tell without actually doing it. I know it's not very far, but the grouping was all within about 8" of each other for the most part.

On another note, the chrono in the store was bout 405 fps and in my target I was using .3g biodegradable bb's. Through the scope it looked like I was getting hooking, but when I just looked everything looked nice and flat. So I don't know if that could be an optical effect or not, hard to say.

Overall it feels great, nice and heavy/sturdy and overall I'm satisfied. Since I'm a novice and it's my first airsoft gun, I won't be upgrading for a long time since I don't know what i"m doing. I hope to get it out in a larger space to try 150-200ft w/ the stock setup. Pretty fun! When I get more time I'll shoot some video. Cheers.
