I just recently decided that I wanted to fully build my own custom VSR-10. I want something that is incredibly reliable, quiet and accurate to pair with my Mk23 while shooting right at 500fps. I plan on using .48g bbs. I also don't have a set price limit because I just want a killer sniper. Here's what I have so far.

I also have a different silencer, silencer adapter, enlarged bolt and rail with level planned to go on it

If money is no object, I heard this company makes the best vsr-10 custom upgrades that money can buy. EdGi kit from EdGi customs.

Need a shorter barrel to most effectively use a .48g. As in, shorter than 400mm. You don't need to R hop it. Just get a Maple Leaf Autobot bucking and a panthera or skees nub.

Your fps also is a little low to be using .48g. Really need 550fps+ to sling them out there. I wouldn't go above .43g at 500fps.

You need better cylinder internals. Action army makes good parts. The cylinder should hold up fine for a while.

The rest is fine. EDGI is nice, but not necessary. A lot of money for parts that aren't quantifiably better than Action Army.

Looks solid. Just keep in mind that for and R-hop a bridged barrel would be prefered. That being said, I would definitely go with a 428 VSR ML CJ and the autobot bucking (without the metal ring). R-hoping a ML setup would be a downgrade imo.

Unfortunately I already bought .48g bbs a while ago thinking my crappy sniper would utilize them(just started then). After I get rid of those 1000 I plan on using .43g ASG bbs. About the cylinder internals the Maple Leaf is a full kit. I'd still need better or did you not realize?

Oh good to know. You just saved me $80 lol. Can you give me some reasons on the shorter inner barrel? I admittedly don't know much about the barrel lengths affect and just heard longer id better so your knowledge would be appreciated.

Ah, I missed the internals part. I simply saw the spring number and thought that's all it was.

ML will be fine. You may be able to save money with Action army though. All you want in the cylinder is something that won't break and will give 100% seal. I personally like cup style pistons more than O ring these days. They're usually quieter, more consistent, and tend to get full seal earlier in the piston's travel.

I use a WASP piston, but that may be a bit advanced for your current tech level (no offense). I'd recommend a standard build like what you're planning and trying it for a year to work out the kinks before experimenting with weighted pistons and such.

With barrel lengths, if you're going with .43g (which is what I use), then the best barrel length is typically right around 430mm. The reason why is heavily discussed in the cylinder to barrel ratios sticky thread I will link you to. This doesn't mean you can't use a longer barrel, or a shorter barrel, but if you want the best efficiency and most power at that weight then 430mm is where you need to be at.

I recommend reading the whole thread, even if some of it is old, outdated, and slightly off topic. You'll have a better idea of the WHY when it comes to heavier bbs and the barrel lengths they need, especially on VSR systems.

Alright thanks. I'll probably stick with the ML since its a full kit but I'll keep AA in mind and yea no offense taken I have no idea what I'm doing to be honest.

I also saw someone recommend the 428mm CJ barrel so considering I've got two people recommend that length that's what Ill go with.

There's quite some sciency stuff backing to keep the barrel at about 430mm. It's because of the volume of the cylinder vs the barrel. I would recommend reading that thread and really getting to know the issue instead of going with "2 strangers on the internet recommended that", as that's a much better approach for upgrading guns

But anyway, for VSRs barrels should be about 430mm, so the CJ 428mm is prefered. Besides, it's the only CJ with the side alignment grooves that really match up the VSR chambers, as others are intended for GBBRs and they have the in slightly different places.

I'd suggest looking at springer Custom Works piston and spring guide as well as there trigger. So far everything they hqve brought out is top class I wouldn't go anywhere else

Yea I plan on using the S-Trigger from them, I'll definitely look into their other parts though. Thanks
