That can be the case. Scopes can cause issues.
When not looking though the scope, if the bb looks as though it is shooting straight, then it most likely is shooting straight.
Try to see if your scope is on a slight angel to the left.

 

I mean the scope itself? It's an old second hand air rifle scope that was never very accurate when attached to the air rifle we had. We assumed it was the rifle not the scope, but now I'm not so sure. Could it have been knocked around a bit and knocked out of line?

 

It's possible. Get a scope level or try your best to do it with a small handheld one. Make sure it is level to the receiver of the rifle.

 

Is it possible my scope is off? I took my rifle to a game last Sunday as it was the first opportunity I had to really test it at range. The BBs actually seemed to be flying straight, but were heading off at an angle, when viewed through the scope. When the BB got to target it was barely still in my sight window, ending up consistently in the top right corner of my scope. Hopefully that makes sense.

There are several things that came make your BB veer. Let's start with the easy one. Level shooting. A trick employed by many experience snipers to make around-the-corner shots is to lean the rifle. That causes the BB to spin at an angle instead of vertically and curves the path of the BB. So, make sure your gun is level when you're shooting.

Second, make sure there are not obstructions making contact with the BB. Many times when a mock suppressor is used, the BB will strike something inside the suppressor or even the opening edge of the suppressor itself. If your inner barrel is shorter than your outer barrel, make sure no contact is being made.

OK. Now onto the more complicated solutions.

The next thing that could be causing your problem is the bucking/nub. If the bucking is grabbing the BB on one side more than the other side, it will spin at that angle. So, make sure there are no deformities in your bucking and make sure that the nub is perfectly symmetrical. Also, make sure the nub is seated correctly. I find that this is the cause for most BBs that fly consistently to one side.

The last item cause is a damaged barrel. That doesn't just mean that the barrel is curved or warped. if there is damage to the end of the barrel, the BB could be catching on it. If there is a dent in the middle of the barrel, the BB could be catching on that. If you don't see any obvious problems, try changing out the barrel. If that fixed the problem then you know what the problem is.
