Hey everyone, so this weekend I am taking a friend from work airsofting with me. It will be his very first time airsofting, and he said he paintballed once a long while ago.

He is kind of into the Call of Duty series, so he already has a liking to the weapons and how they operate.

Now I don't know if it's just me being silly, or if anyone else gets that awesome feeling of taking someone completely new to the sport for their very first time. I feel like it's my first time again, being completely giddy and so excited to run around and shoot people with realistic looking weapons. I've even already started prepping gear, something I never do until the night before a game.

I remember my first time going. I was loaned a TM P90 with one hicap that constantly unwinded itself. I was with my (now current) team Iron Cross Elite. They let my brother and myself join and I was hooked, despite it being below zero, having a constantly jamming magazine, and no gear besides eye-pro and camo. It was fun...and now I've been playing for almost 8 years.

Does anyone else share this kind of exciting feeling? I couldn't find a thread like this so I figured I'd post it to see what others think. Please post stories of bringing someone new, or your stories of how you got started into airsoft, I'd love to read them.

Long story short, I really enjoy bringing in new people to not only enrich their hobbies, but to make our sport larger and well known to people. I dunno, just something I was thinking about today and I'm in a really good mood.

I felt like that when I took my GF with me, but all she did was complain all day. I'm hoping to find someone else to take with me at some point.

It's a kinda love-hate thing or me, especially if they're "Cod" players. Cod players are a strange breed of people, usually somewhat bulletproof and tend to know everything about anything.

"That guy's got a m99 barret! We're gonna have to take him out first because it can shoot the length of the game site and will really hurt! He says he's using .4s and those are the BBs that are pinpoint accurate to 100m!! Oh man that guy's got an AK! If he has rapid fire on that we're screwed!"

It's cute to start with but after lunch-break you'll start to lose it.

Even though he'll have a small, useless amount of airsoft physics knowledge, try not to slap him, and remember, no-matter how hard you want to kick the guy in the mouth, it's HIS first day, so make sure he enjoys it and he comes back! Remember though, you can use him, he'll be like cannon fodder for the day, but will bloody love it.

From my experience, the only thing more annoying that taking a Cod-player airsofting for the first time, is taking an army veteran or army personnel for the first time. Granted, they know a thing or two about real world tactics, but for me there is a thing as "too far".

"Mate don't go in there, there's 3 in the opposite doorway, we should wait here for 20 others to come, throw in some tear gas, and then flashbangs, knock the wall down here with a pummel, and then storm them with attack dogs. We'd probably be able to capture them if fast enough, without a shot being fired. Oh look, a shotgun! You be the point-man". *cringe cringe cringe*

Fu** that, I'd much prefer to run in there wielding my trusty desert eagle, swinging it around like I'm frickin' Neo from the Matrix, whilst yelling "leeeeeerrooooyyy jeeenkkiinnsss" into my enemies' faces. I don't do serious, and the army veterans don't "usually" think of airsoft as "funny" the first time they go.

But as I say, it's his first day. Try not to get frustrated with him, and make sure he loves it.

My new spotter was a codsofter. Hes fairly good, if I get my rifle back before the weekend, I will start teaching him how to shoot.

I've noticed codsofters usually drop all the video game "omgimgunnasnipethisguyat100yards" crap the second the bb's start flying. Even if he does do it, I'm sure it will still be a blast for the both of us and that's what matters :)

Sumta.... if he has a sniper too, that defeats the purpose of having a spotter. Spotters should have AEG's, extra supplies for you and them, BB's, and if you are in a MILSIM game, claymores, tripwires, spotter scopes, etc.

I once took a friend airsofting for the first time, and I told him to go attack an enemy base just for the hell of it. He did, and got shot by 5 different guys, but he still had a blast and was hooked on airsoft.

It all depends on your playing style. Spotters are like a gray area when it comes to sniping. They have many advantages and disadvantages. I personally don't like spotters, but some find they can't live without them. It's all about if you have a use for them.

When taking new players for the first time I tend to go and play with them with an AEG, running around making noise and causing mayhem. I feel it gives them a greater experience of the day... Then the next time I go with them, I revert back to being sneaky beaky and if they can keep up then they get to play with me :)

That being said, I took a mate who is now hooked and my missus came and enjoyed herself even if she did get shot a lot! I was over joyed when she agreed to come again! If I can get her truly hooked then my arm's budget will go up!

My friend has just bought himself a sniper rifle, so we're going to be sniping in pairs, which is similar to spotting for each other. I wouldn't usually, but Boddice (Wargasm_Monkey on here) is so funny that it'll brighten up my games no end. Seriously, each time I sneak around with him something bad usually happens. I turned around one time whilst sneaking through undergrowth to see Boddice literally hanging by his pants from a barbed wire fence.

Sneaking will become three times as challenging with my sniper buddy, but I'll be happy.

I once brought a friend from school airsofting, one game and he was hooked. he then hooked two of his friends. Less than two weeks later, he and one of his friends bought M4s.

I also hooked another friend, he doesn't have the money to buy a rifle though, I just let him use my M4.

Every friend that I get into airsofting loves being an assaulter, most likely because I rarely allow anyone to wield my L96 (I believe that only once has anyone used it in-game besides me).
