Correct, it does what it says on the tin so to speak.

If you take it out and then pull back on the bolt you would just pull the cylinder right out, With the stopper in as you pull back on the bolt it pushes against the spring guide to allow the spring to be compressed and the piston to catch on the trigger sear so its a kind of important piece to have .

Can you just trim away at the bottom so its not sticking out as far? (Pictures might help)

 

Trim it off a little yeah. The spring guide stopper keeps the spring guide in place so that when you pull the bolt back the spring compresses. Hence, if you take it out, you can take the bolt out.

The sear will still catch the piston, so without the spring guide stopper it is still possible (although not recommended) to cock the gun, but then you're pushing forward rather than pulling backward. The piston sear will keep the piston in place and the spring guide is pushed forward by the forward motion of the cylinder and thus the spring is compressed.

But yeah, just trim it off a little with a saw, dremel, whatever you like. Just sand it down a little after that and make sure there's no sharp edges and stuff :hehe:

I have one further question: Can you access the spring guide stopper (SGS) from the outside of the body? So you do not need to disassamble the whole body to release / change the cylinder?
I might consider drilling a hole in the Body so that the SGS can be locked and released for maintenance reasons of ther cylinder.

 

No, you'll need to take the body off to take the spring guide stopper out. I'd just leave it that way, it's easy to disassemble anyway

It is just 2 screws. Plus dirt and crap would get into your stock and might plug up your trigger.
