No such thing as good ootb, you can get good bases but I wouldn't trust most manufacturers quality control to produce a good field able dmr.

Some others here can give good base and build advic.

 

I haven't bought much stuff for a while, but it sounds like Double Eagle and Arcturus are really popping off these days.
CYMA Platinum is solid, but I think that the first two are a bit more up to date.

Lapping your barrel, Maple Leaf bucking, barrel shimming, and my SS-nub combined with some .36g+ BBs should be able all you need for any of these guns, as long as they're not black steel.

 

The E&C SR25s/417s are honestly the best DMR base currently. The stock airseal is great, the stock drivetrain is decent and you can run a proper brick 11.1V happily, the stock hop is way above average. It's fieldable OOTB, but ideally you'll remove all play from the barrel end and lap the barrel, possibly making an SS-nub too.

Changing the motor and gears or adding an ETU aren't necessary but both help with the trigger response (although the gears are only for better durability if you don't go for Begadi's 13:1 set).
