Yea, I agree, plus the CNC just seems like I'll have to do a lot more work.I used a low power dremel tool to try and cut a slot in the receiver but, as I figured, it couldn't do the job, so I'll have to borrow a more powerful one from a friend of mine when I see him next week. Also, no problem. :tup:

*Update*

I did some measurements on the bolt handle and the front of the bolt has a 12.2mm diameter hole while the smaller off-center hole on the other side is 11.92mm in diameter. I figured that a half inch drill bit that measured 12.9mm in diameter would work as long as I didn't drill all the way through, so I figured drilling only up to where the paint starts, starting from the smaller hole, should turn out perfect. I completed the process and everything worked spectacularly.

On a side note, I made a modification to my cylinder head. This modification can be done if anyone has upgraded their sniper and has their stock piston lying around. Just remove the o-ring and glue it to the bottom of the cylinder head and it should turn out something like this:

This should quiet down the gun a bit and also lighten the impact against the cylinder head.

 

Livonia did this to his old rifle years ago, there should be a post on here someplace about it. It would be about 2006-2007.

 

I saw some of his posts, and that was what compelled me to keep coming here. I would've liked to contact him about it, but I hear he isn't around much. The pictures and information didn't really help though, it just inspired me to do it sooner instead of hoping to try to do it sometime. I'm trying to go a bit more in-depth with the information about the mods so that other lefties will know what problems will arise and what needs to be done fix them as well.

Alright, I've finally finished cutting the receiver and it may not be the most beautiful looking thing, but it does work spectacularly. While the higher power dremel I used did work to an extent, it still didn't seem to cut through the metal all too well, but luckily it got the job done after about 45mins of cutting. It definitely proved to be more difficult than I anticipated, but here is the finished product:

I think it may look bad partially because of all the paint missing, but that can be easily fixed.

As for the stock, I just took a hacksaw to it and cut down until the bolt handle could drop all the way. Once finished I filled in the gap with a bit of foam padding.

I'm a lefty but I will not be left hand converting my ca m24. I can use it right handed but it's just slightly less comfortable.

 

That's fine, whatever floats your boat. If you can get used to shooting righty, then that's quite an accomplishment, knowing how hard it is to do that. I tried to use it right handed and it felt like more of a burden than anything and using it left handed with the bolt handle was easy, but I had to take my eyes off the target to cycle the bolt. Every lefty has the right to choose whether they want to change to fit their gun, or have their gun change to fit them; it's all personal preference.

There are a couple reasons why I did this conversion:
1. I've always liked to cycle the bolt right handed because it looked and felt cool since it was done the right way, but I felt it would've been nice to do that left handed.
2. I have a gun that seems to be owned by every other sniper on the battlefield, so it would be nice to add a little uniqueness to mine.

 

I'm ambitextrious so I know what you mean. I can go either way but prefer right handed. I would like a sort of swivel type setup though. So the handle can swing left side to right.

Thanks guys. I am happy that the paint made it look that much better because in my own opinion, it looked like a crummy job when the paint was missing, but now it looks almost as if the gun came out of the box like that.
