Whats up nerds,
NJ field recommendations?
Been to on target a few times now. I like some of the fields there, the shipping-container complex is great, some are just mediocre, lots are brush and artificial berms, personal preference I guess. Its up to 35$ per day now. But pretty laid back which is fine with me.
Went to cousins nj (softair) for the first time, their fields were similar: black pine, lots of brush, artificial mounds and plywood 1/2 buildings. The one with the plywood village was fun. Brush and forest not so much. Rules were a little more strigent: 150' MED for BASR.
Think I like the more "urban" environments. Having actually structures makes sense to me instead of random 6' stretches of isolated wooden fence. Also the brush is a total buzzkill: if your bb touches the smallest twig on its flight it's not hitting target. Frustrating and it ruins the immersion when you can see a guy 40 yards away through tall weeds but you waste 10 shots and can't even hit him. Builing to building just feels right.

Thinking about trying quickshot this weekend down by Philly. Saw in pictures they got a little suburban "neighborhood" with a dozen or so little houses (tool sheds). That might be fun. Anyone been?

I found a group of guys from Flemington, NJ with some nice property that they play on frequently. They are constantly adding to and building on the field as well. Here is the group:

If the link doesn’t work, it’s a Facebook group called Homestead Misfits!

Inneresting. It would be nice to play sonewhere other than the pinies. Checking it out, thanks

I went to a build day because it was a day I could go. Helped moved some shit around and then played a few rounds. I think there were like 12 guys. They have a few teams go and camp out some weekends with 20-40 people. Those are the days I plan to go back.

I didn't even know cousin's had a location in NJ
I goto cousin's in calverton on Long island, unfortunately the new field has dramatically reduced the size of the fields to the point where any game beyond 8vs8 would be crowded (and usually it's way more than 16 players playing airsoft on any given weekend)
I recently went up to Zulu 24 in new windsor NY and had a much better playing experience, however that might be too long of a hike for you

@blindsniper

Is it GENUINELY worth the trip? I'm ok travelling if the field is 'awesome' and the op atmosphere is chill (had one too many op experience where someone is screaming at me like he was my ranking superior...like dude...I'm not at MSW)

I'm so done with my local field that's getting more toxic and hate to say it...field quality is subpar

Robinhood is definitely worth the trip. The walk on days are SOOOOOO chill. That’s one of the reasons why I don’t go to my home field anymore. At my home field, everything is such a strict time limit, it’s rush rush rush in between games, refs yelling and being condescending… it’s just too much. From my experience you will always have the commander nerds trying to give you orders. I see it more at your basic op than walk on days though. My buddy and I always refer to them as a “Sarge” because they try and give us specific orders because I have a sniper rifle and he uses an LMG. Like bruh. Just stop. But Robinhood walk ons are my jam. You show up, it’s $20, you hang out, there’s no one yelling about chrono, loading up or being ready. You leisurely prepare whatever you need to, ref goes over game mode, makes it short and sweet, you go out to the field, shoot your toy gun at others, come back, repeat. Robinhood ops are definitely worth it too. I always try and make them. One is end coming up end of March.

does this place ever get "teams" together?
I mean hopefully not everyone is going to play snipers, but has that happened for this forum?

Bit of a hike, but it looks like they have a lot of buildings to get into firefights from ( including a village of yurts/ tents? Saw it one video).
2 hour drive; maybe something for a special occasion

I checked out the pictures of the place and honestly didnt look anything special. No castles, box towns, wharehouses, etc, just kind of the usual woods and fence sections.

Far as chilll goes, on target is a pretty chill, maybe too chill. Sometimes there'll be a half hour between games (aside from lunch). I drive over an hour to get their (and aint getting up at 8am on a sat/ sunday) so we never get there till after 11 or 12. They close around 4 (sometimes earlier). Have never gotten more than 4 games in (like as in 2 different courses, one game on each side.
Still though, looking around maybe its a pretty solid place. They have some good courses ( cargo town and concrete castle) that I havent see elsewhere. And never once seen them chrono anything, talk about safety, or mention the word "barrel cover". I know read online rules at some places that have fps limits of ~375 for all guns, get the impression theyre hards on about it

Robin Hood is a lot of woods. It’s nothing special like a milsim with cool buildings. They have a small town with small wooden units they made. There’s a heli they built somewhere on the field. Right now they are building a legit castle that they just started. By no means is it a super special field. I’m just saying if you’re within 2-3 hours and want to try something new, I would check it out. Some people don’t have anything near them and RH is at least consistent with good numbers.

@AsianGuy I almost teamed up with sodium once, but he ended up not being able to make the trip

@Ivan B Creepin

The fields are very mixed, wooded, cqb, buildings (but there is roof damage to a few of them, they should be fixed soon they said), the yurt stuff is wooden, not tents. They actually do call it village if I recall right.

American Milsim runs their eastern op events there...so at least you know it's up to a certain standard and expectation

They are really serious on safety, which I respect alot

Thats cool. Except for the safety part. I mean outside of a safe zone. No one wanta to get shot in the face with goggles off. But in the field I could really care less if someones shooting 3+ joules. My philo is, if youre scared of taking hits, layer up. Wear a helmet.
Thats said, I don't doubt when you get a bunch of 18yr olds together, someones going to do stupid shit like spray a metal garbage can down with a hot hpa at full auto in the parking lot when there's 12 year olds standing 10 feet away. They gotta stay on top of that shit, I suppose

That zulu24 is a little closer than robinhood (just under 2 hours) so I'm inclined to check that out maybe in the next month or two. That yurt village looks fun

I am lucky that my local outdoor field is still a nice place and not toxic.

What do you mean? Like organized games where its ASF members only or? The most I have seen is probably me, Corriander, Masada, and his buddy (I think its mwrose, but its been a bit) getting together at TCA Starburst or another local-ish game. Back in the day there were organized "Shoot-outs" that some members setup, but that has been quite a while.
