I usually try to get stuff used if possible, and build up orders to take advantage of coupons, deals, and free shipping.
Airsoft can be cheaper if you shop around, but to somebody new it is a lot more difficult to
I was able to get my friend a whole loadout and $100 in BBs for like $400 since I gave him some mags, that's 3 batteries, a charger, gun, mask, gloves, quality AEG, and maybe some other stuff. It's all about deals, coupons, and shopping around. We made 2 Evike accounts and did 2 orders to get the $20 discount twice, which isn't insubstantial.

As for money and younger people. It was pretty pathetic when I was in middle and high school watching kids complain about money and stuff, but they were always buying dumb shit or getting bored with whatever they got, while I would only spend money on stuff I valued, and would save money wherever possible. I was never given money, I would do various things to get it, so it was certainly annoying to wait 6 months longer than I would have liked to buy a PCP airgun or Yong Heng compressor. To these kids complaining about a $300 gun, I'd say that maybe they should analyze their spending and build a monthly budget, and also quit wasting money on Fortnite skins or video games that you regret buying. I had the choice of video games or my other hobbies, and I'm glad I didn't pick games as I found much more value in other stuff. It's all about priorities and smart decisions, and some people just have issues with both.

For a "beginner sniper" the Double Eagle VSR-10 is probably the best thing to gun until you reach the Action Army T11 as it has a stainless cylinder, aluminum cylinder internals, steel trigger sears, and alright barrel. Should handle a bit more of a spring, but shoots alright as it is. I would caution against getting any sniper though, as the playstyle will likely not match your expectation and you will have been more likely to get more joy from a $200 AEG instead of a Novritsch rifle or something cheaper.

Cash is the great equaliser, quite true. I always kept my vsr around when I was on site, or at least a reasonable bolt action, so people could try it for a game or two. Giving them the chance to experience the play style without the potential pitfall of a cheap rifle helped more than a few decide against sniping but equally acted as a foot in the door for some.

At least with that course of action and a chat about what they might want to purchase, as well as reliability and upgrade routes, they were better informed overall.
