Hi,
I play Rugby and wrestle and I've Been Playing airsoft for a couple of years now.
I've been wanting to get into sniping and have been searching around here for info and it has been very helpful!
I've done some searching and narrowed it down to the ssg10 and the tac 41. I know that ssg10 is harder to upgrade than the Tac 41, I was just wondering your opinion. For the pistol I was wondering if you had any opinions for a good AEP.
Thanks!

First, have you tired sniping before?

I've only played some games with my friends vsr
Okay so you have played airsoft matches with a bolt gun before and liked it enough to continue?

The reason I ask is because a lot of people think they want to get into sniping and spend a lot of money on gun before actually even ever trying it. After they try it a few times they don't like it and they've wasted a bunch of money.

I was leaning towards the tac cuz I heard it's easier to upgrade but If there are any advantages that either of them have that would be helpful.
Here is everything I learned from that process:

Overall, it's a great gun with a lot of great features OOTB that the VSR 10 doen't have. A few of those being a bolt that can be pulled out without disassembling the gun by taking out a simple pin, a stock magazine that has 48 rounds in it plus a 20 round loading tube, a stock TDC hop up chamber, and a very nice adjustable stock. Unfortunately, it seems like over the past few years silverback has had some QC issues. You can see in my post that I had quite a few issues with items ordered directly from silverback. That said, there are many companies (Stalker Airsoft) now making excellent third-party parts that can make the Tac 41 a beast.

Oh and for the tac 41, just know that the spring that comes in it is pathetically weak and that the barrel and bucking that comes in it is AEG spec.

Here are a few vids of mine:

The SSG10 is ,imo, the best out of the box vsr-10 option. With the stock set up and the correct bbs, it can hit targets pretty accurately at around 225 ft out of the box. That said, I upgraded mine with a Tridos design TDC, new barrel, and hucking. If you were to get the SSG 10 I would shoot it for a while and figure out what you like about it and don't like about it. If you were to want more range I would recommend a nicer barrel, TDC, and new bucking. A stronger spring also might be a good idea if youre within your Joule limits for the fields you play.

Would you recommend an a3 with a long barrel or an A1?
A1 and spend the money you save on magazines, scope, bbs, etc.

Play with it for a bit, and then see if you want to upgrade. If you upgrade, do research and don't just buy random crap that looks good.

Having handled handled the A1 style for ages and the A3 for a couple days, I prefer the A1 because I feel I'm able to shoot more quickly, as I can sort of just slide my hand along the gun without looking. With the A3 I have to completely break my grip and rack the bolt and then find the grip to grab it. A lot more complicated than simply sliding your hand up, racking the bolt, and sliding naturally into place to shoot.

Do consider the price difference that isn't getting you any weight savings and is leaving you with a bolt handle that likes to unscrew itself. A1 is just much nicer in about every way, save for looking badass.

Also, A2 is heavy as shit and is still more expensive than A1, so not worth it at all if you're after performance and ease of use. From the one I put a couple shots through it did feel nice and I could shoot as fast as the A1, but it felt like somebody snuck a bar of lead inside it.
